These songs may serve as stand alone numbers. They also function as a unified series. They can become features of other projects. While their future remains undetermined, each track represents an evolutionary course in my music making process. One in which the city serves as the subject and sound laboratory.

Some of these songs are resolved for now. Others are rough cuts and demos to be refined more in the future. I consider these songs to be works in progress. They still benefit from further fine tuning; allowing for the greater vision behind each to crystalize and bloom.  Stay tuned for their later counterparts.

INTRO NARRATION: Wild Animal In The City Artist Andrew Ackerman
00:00 / 01:54

Morning opens its eyes to the dark light. And our animal is carried to the cityscape. Picture this and a cinematic scene unfolds...

A ninja warrior moving through labyrinthian obstacle fields. With sounds to entice the senses for hours upon hours.

A native animal granted access. Back to urban existence. The ninja and the animal are a shared sole entity.

Drifting and then coalescing. Shapes of jagged ether. Climbing the situation. It's your ride. Your lunar new year.

All wrapped up in ribbon and fire. Desires to run rampant. Run wild. We put the wild in the wilderness.

And the wilderness is wild. And so, the city awaits the driver and the driven.

Enter the cacophony of collision sound. This is Wild Animal In The City.

GHOST RAIL 2: THE NEVER ENDERArtist Andrew Ackerman
00:00 / 13:41

Shattered cold. The haunting grail. The mover of spirits with the seldom sounds reaping hold. Octaves dark. Held on high. All close down for the nightly trial. Dreams so vivid escalate. In nocturnal hours, with the dust that collects on your palms, your fingertips. You go down in melodies, dark as bone black sky. See your beginnings and endings as only ever continuing. Merry go round, not so merry whatsoever. But never ending, you sweep in and fade out of  the circle of ghost sounds. The ghost rail deposits your sensory system within its haunted wake. With waves to thrill and taunt you. And then, you know. You're in for a ghostly ride. For the ride never ends in the realm of the haunted. For the occupants of the The Ghost Rail.

REBEL PASSArtist Andrew Ackerman

Hello Rebel! Time to make your pass... It's called REBEL PASS. And it's the sound of the universe running in reverse.

It's several several chords stricken on the keys on a mini-grand piano. Those same color notes were distorted via a masterful machine.

It's a rousing kind of thing really. A modern hitting factory of sorts. Distortions running through the cold-hard vacuum of nebular space.

Play some funky space drone spells. Then spiral into the colossal tornado. An avalanche of hypnotic sound awaits you.

Listen to REBEL PASS.

The ricochet techno grumble spirals on a swinging loop. Inside of a cyclone. Lost in time. Lost in forever.  But forever is never lost.

What on earth are we to do? But left to wade through the operator's divergent warning labels.

Travel through the techno drone of colossal beats per minute. Feel the fever of the rolling riptide rhythm.

Experience the hypnotic awe which is FEVER FEELER.

EPIC ANTHEM: THE CITY (GENTLE SLAM II)Artist Andrew Ackerman
00:00 / 13:41

EPIC ANTHEM: THE CITY will be the backing track for my next Gentle Slam piece. Part one was Grand Design.

This particular tapestry fo sound draws on such diverse corners of the musical map as Pro wrestler entrance Theme Songs to Urban Dance music styles. The repetition of sounds will support the rhythmic cycle for the delivery of my spoken words.

I'm paying respects to a friend in this one. An early version of a song in dedication. It's called A Song For My Friend, John.

An organic composition. In the process of beginning , I feel a deepening of my friendship with John. I feel that I can draw on my time in his presence and bring those qualities into it. I'm bringing in Rock, Soul and some Miami Beach vibrant chords. Art Deco color schemes. It's a passionate, slower ballad.

The timing. With an almost seductive soulful essence.  The track as an opportunity to rest in the place you are. To really take it all in. No rush. You're just there in the company of your good friend and that's enough. It also represents a slowing down in New York City. In a city that's always going, it offers me a meditative feel. I think John would like it too. Enjoy it for John.
