Andrew Ackerman is a Multi-Media Artist, Musician, and Filmmaker blending fantasy, sci-fi, and spirituality through drawing, painting, sculpture, poetry, music, performance, video and film. Ackerman was born in Brooklyn, New York, and lives and works in Miami Beach, Florida. He received his B.F.A in Studio Art: Painting, from Florida Atlantic University (2010).
Ackerman’s work has been featured in group exhibitions at The Cornell Art Museum, Delray Beach (2026), Flatiron Project Space, New York City (2026), and Chroma Art Film Festival, Superblue Miami (2024). Ackerman is currently creating a series of poster art pieces, assemblage sculptures, electronic rock songs, and a sci-fi experimental short film. His creative heroes include Jim Henson, Peter Gabriel, Andy Kaufman, and Jackson Pollock. Ackerman is interested in creating projects that engage the senses, question conventions, and entertain his audiences.
VIDEO, FILM & IMMERSIVE PROJECTS
My video and film combine drawing, painting, sculpture, performance, sound, and animation- and I am the sole creator, director, performer, and composer. I present these works on screens and iPads, and screen them at film festivals. In my immersive projects, I transform physical spaces into alien realms, inviting viewers to become active participants in the unfolding experience.
PAINTINGS
My background is in painting, and I work primarily in acrylics. My style is a fusion of Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism, and calligraphic-inspired elements. I also created my own language, Ackerman Code, an intermix of numbers, words, and symbols. My "Alien Love" series explores alienation, freedom, and LGBTQIA+ rights through vivid figures and symbolic backgrounds. Each painting seeks balance, harmony, and personal expression.
SONGS
Welcome to rock star mode! This is my brand of rock, with hard-edged, raspy vocals and luxurious glam-infused vocals, accompanied by keytar, keyboard, and piano. My ambient electronic soundscapes represent alternate domains. Each track is an invitation. Place a pair of headphones on your head, and the journey begins.
PERFORMANCES
My music performances feature vocals and keytar. My spoken word performances are character narratives and have included visual elements, such as hand held lights, lipstick, and mirrors. My live painting sessions introduce other levels of theater and spectacle.
